The Thembinkosi Foundation is a UK based registered charity with the aim of building and sustaining a green school in Zambia. Not only will we build a school in Zambia but we will develop outreach projects that empower local people.
We seek to transform the face of education in Zambia through our unique approach to education promoting sustainable development, high quality education and the alleviation of poverty. The school that we will build will be the Zambezi International Green School.
In order to promote the building of our school in Zambia the Thembinkosi Foundation was established in September 2008 in order to raise funds for the building of the Zambezi International green School (ZIGS) in the Kazungula District of Zambia, on the shores of the mighty Zambezi, and the outreach projects that will follow the building of our school in Zambia.
ZIGS is to be built using local materials and by local people. It will be a self sufficient institution utilising micro hydro electric power generated from the Zambezi river, solar power and bio fuel technologies. Our students will be at one with their environment and will play an active role in conservation projects and agriculture.
